(Spirit Lake)– This year’s car drop on West Lake Okoboji is being put on by two non-profits: the Spirit Lake Sunrise Kiwanis Club, which has solely put on the event in the past, and the Iowa Great Lakes chapter of the American Red Cross.
Tickets for the drop are $10 each. Participants will once again be able to purchase a minute that represents either AM or PM of each day between now and the time the car drops. Minutes are sold on a first choice basis. Anyone who purchases a minute that’s already been recorded will be moved to the next available minute. As a result, there will be only one sole winner of the $1,000 grand prize.
The winner will once again this year be determined by a clock placed inside the car which stops when the car submerges.
Proceeds will benefit both the Sunrise Kiwanis and the Iowa Great Lakes chapter of the American Red Cross.
Tickets for the car drop will be sold at various events during this weekend’s University of Okoboji Winter Games. Minutes may also be purchased at any time at the Dry Dock in Arnolds Park or by contacting any Sunrise Kiwanis Club member of the local Red Cross office at (712) 262-1574.
Minutes may be purchased through March 10th.
