Red Cross Continues To Assist With Flooding Issues

November 22, 2014

(Undated)—The American Red Cross continues to assist Iowa counties affected by flooding, including several in northwest Iowa. In the 18 counties that have been affected, Red Cross officials say they’ve served 125 meals along with more than 1,500 snacks and water; distributed more than 900 clean-up kits and assisted 51 families with immediate needs such as shelter, food or clothing. Officials say the numbers are likely to increase as the operation is still in progress.

Locally, the American Red Cross has been on the ground in Buena Vista, Cherokee, O’Brien, Plymouth and Sioux counties.

Red Cross officials say they’ve been extremely busy in recent weeks responding to various disasters, including the tornadoes in Oklahoma and Missouri. They say additional Red Cross from Iowa will be deployed to those areas once the flooding threat here diminishes.
