(Spencer)– The recent rash of house fires in the area is putting a financial squeeze on the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Cindy Voss of the local Red Cross chapter tells KUOO news they assisted 15 families affected by house fires over the past year in their five-county service area.
Voss says assisting fire victims is part of the organization’s mission. She says the Red Cross assists by providing immediate shelter, food, clothing, blankets, survival kits, and so on.
Voss says the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will continue to aid victims, but that they need to replenish their funds.
Those wishing to donate may do so by making checks payable to the American Red Cross. They can be sent to the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at P.O. Box 407; Spencer, Iowa…51301.
Donations are tax deductible.
