PWC Collision Injures Algona Teen

November 22, 2014

(Ruthven)– An Algona teen was injured Sunday in a collision of two personal water craft on Lost Island Lake near Ruthven.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 13-year-old David Klein of Algona was injured when the PWC he was operating crossed in front of another one operated by 13-year-old Conner Langerman of Whittemore.

Klein was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital and was transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital. No information was available on his condition.

Langerman and a passenger on the PWC he was operating, 13-year-old Morgan Muller of Whittemore, were treated on the scene.

Authorities say the collision took place shortly after 2:30 p.m. and that Klein and Langerman had both successfully completed the DNR’s boated education program.

The Clay and Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Offices, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
