Pursuit Sends E’Ville Man To Hospital, Then To Jail

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A pursuit over the weekend that started in Spirit Lake and ended on Highway 86 north of Vick’s Corner sent an Estherville man to the hospital…then to jail.

The Spirit Lake Police Department says it started around 12:17 a.m. yesterday (Sunday) when an officer tried to pull over a Ford F-150 pickup for a traffic stop. Police say the driver, 47-year-old Gregory Godfrey of Estherville, failed to stop for officers and led them on a pursuit that went north on Highway 86 from Vick’s Corner. The vehicle left the roadway in the 1000 block of Highway 86 and overturned.

Godfrey was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake where he was treated for his injuries and released. He was then arrested and booked into the Dickinson county jail on charges of operation without registration, eluding police, reckless driving, driving while revoked, no insurance, no S-R insurance, and open container.

Spirit Lake police were assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Park Police Department and Lakes Regional Healthcare.
