(Spirit Lake)– July 21st has been set as the date for a public hearing on proposed improvements to Highway 86 between Highway nine and the Minnesota border.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say the hearing will be held that evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a formal presentation beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Dickinson County Courthouse in Spirit Lake.
The project has been split into two segments, with the north project including a realignment of the curves at the stateline. The south project, between Highway nine and 110th Street, includes an improved alignment of the roadway along with paved shoulders.
D.O.T officials say the purpose of the July 21st meeting is to update the public on the progress of the project. Findings of an environmental assessment that was completed for the south project will also be presented, and feedback will be accepted from the public.
Speakers will be limited to three minutes each, and anyone planning to make a formal presentation will need to designate that at the time of registration.
