Project Liberty Remains On Track For Early 2014 Start Up

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)—A cellulosic bio-ethanol plant under construction in Emmetsburg remains on track for completion and start up in early 2014. Executives with POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels, the company that owns the plant, made the announcement Tuesday at a Fuel Ethanol Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri.

Officials say the biomass receiving and grinding building, which will process an average of 770 tons of biomass per day of operation, is nearly complete and workers are finishing the concrete work inside. Work also continues on tank foundations and the tanks themselves. Construction of a warehouse building, scale and a 22-acre biomass stock yard has been completed.

They add farmers in the region are still signing up to deliver an expected 120,000 tons of biomass bales to the Project Liberty stackyard this fall.
