Program To Highlight Special Architectural & Other Features Of Downtown Spencer Buildings

(Spencer)– The public is invited to a special event this coming Tuesday, November 22nd highlighting some little known history and unique designs of some buildings in downtown Spencer.

Sheriffa Jones, Chairperson of the Spencer Historic Preservation Commission, says they’ll be putting on an event titled “Second Stories” from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. that evening in the council chambers at Spencer City Hall…Click here to hear mp3 file

Jones says a portion of the interiors of several of the buildings that will be shown haven’t been disturbed since they were last occupied some 20 to 40 years ago…Click here to hear mp3 file

“Second Stories” property interiors included in the presentation are those of the Medlar and Moore buildings; the McAllister Block; the Floete-Cornwall Building; the Union Block; Citizens National Bank and the I.O.O.F Building. Jones says some of the images will be overall room and hallway views. Others will be architectural details such as woodwork, wallpapers, doorknobs and light fixtures.
