(Sibley) – A Cherokee man has been sentenced to prison on a sexual abuse charge filed last year in Osceola County.
Forty-five year-old James Bolt pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class “C” felony. This week Bolt was sentenced to ten years in prison on each count, to be served concurrently. A one-thousand dollar fine was suspended.
Bolt was arrested after a search last September 30th at a residence in Ocheyedan turned up a juvenile runaway from Rembrandt and resulted in charges against two people, including one who lives at the residence. Bolt was initially charged with harboring a runaway child, which was dismissed.
The sheriff’s office also charged 38-year-old Rebecca Ebbers of Ocheyedan with harboring a runaway child, an aggravated misdemeanor. Last month, she pleaded guilty and was given a 60-day suspended sentence. Ebbers was placed on probation for two years and ordered to pay 11-hundred dollars in fines, surcharges, and court costs.
