August 16, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– University of Okoboji Oktoberfest returns this fall. Blain Andera, CEO of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, says it will be held Saturday, September 24th at Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park with one of its mainstay events coming back again this year…

“The bike ride around West Lake Okoboji with several stops at some of our chamber member businesses, and we’ve got tons of activities going on in the park after the ride.”

That’s in addition to the traditional favorites…

“The stump contest, where people drive a nail into the stump, you know, that’s always fun. That’s free of charge. We’ve got inflatables for the kids that are going to be down there. The Arnolds Park Amusement Park is going to bring out some of their kiddie rides for kids, of course the Oktoberfest beer, West O is going to be down there serving up the Oktoberfest beer. Kiwanis has a duck race where folks can purchase a duck with an opportunity to win $1,000. There’s a lot of other things going on. Shirts and Skins is going to be performing and then, of course, the popular stein holding contest.”

Registration is now open for the events. Early-bird registration, which is $30 person, ends September 13th. It includes a commemorative t-shirt.

This will mark the 31st year for the event.
