(Okoboji)-There’s still time to register for the Prairie Lakes Conference. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Prairie Lakes Conference will be held August 9-11 in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Dr. Mary Skopec, Executive Director with Iowa Lakeside Lab says there’s still time to register for the conference. “We really want people to come out and talk with the professionals and see first-hand what’s happening. We try to keep the cost minimal. So, we’ve got buses and lunches and breakfast. For $100 you can participate in this conference, and you can register by going to plciowa.com. Basically, you can register up until the day the conference starts on August 9th. We’d love to see you out there and join us.”
She notes that the conference leads up to The Okoboji Blue Water Festival. “We really want to get people out there excited about what we’re doing to protect these lakes. You know, we are seeing dramatic improvements in water clarity on Big Spirit and East Okoboji. Really, it’s a testament to the great things that people have done in terms of investing and protecting for the long term. So, we get to celebrate that on the 12th, but the days before with the Prairie Lakes Conference we’re really seeing that first-hand.”
