Power Outage Sends Fire Departments Scrambling

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Friday’s power outage kept the Arnolds Park/Okoboji and Spirit Lake Fire Departments on the run.

Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Chief Chris Yungbluth says his department received two calls almost simultaneously shortly after 5:00 p.m…(click here for comment from Yungbluth).

Yungbluth says the source of the smoke could be attributed to a problem with an airhandler that was caused by the power surges…(click here for comment from Yungbluth).

The restaurant was able to reopen shortly after power was restored.

Most of the other calls pertained to smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that were activated as a result of the power surges and outage.
