(Spencer)– Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson says the public needs to be leery of a mailing that’s been sent out to area residents. He says it implies that water service lines can be insured against maintenance costs should an emergency occur.
Lawson says his office has received several complaints about the official-looking notice, which implies that local utilities and governments support it. Lawson says that is actually NOT the case, adding that the city of Spencer and Spencer Municipal Utilities and other utility companies in the region are in no way affiliated with the firm that’s sent out the mailings. Lawson says numerous complaints have been filed in regard to the company and how it operates.
Area residents are once again reminded to investigate any type of home warranty or maintenance agreements as they are not common.
