(Okoboji)– Dana Potter, a 2011 graduate of Spirit Lake High School, is this year’s recipient of the Pearson Lakes Art Center scholarship funded by the Patrice and Rita Leary Foundation.
The $3,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student looking to further advance their studies in the visual arts.
Any graduating senior in Dickinson county who has been accepted to a college or university to pursue a degree in art history, fine arts or education is eligible to apply. Any student who previously graduated from a high school in Dickinson county that is currently enrolled in a four year art history, art education or visual arts program at a college or university is also eligible.
Criteria for awarding the scholarship is based on artistic ability determined by a review of a portfolio of work. Supporting recommendations, grade point average, ACT/SAT scores and information requested on the form are also taken into consideration.
Potter will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall.
