(Okoboji)-A new record was set at The Battle of The Bartenders during Winter Games. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Parks Marina has announced that the annual Battle of the Bartenders event held during the University of Okoboji Winter Games in January hit a new fundraising record.
Senior Marketing Strategist Trevor Johnson explains. “This year we raised over $25,500 in one hour, which beat last year’s total of $18,000. It’s a great charity event and it’s now the tradition of kicking off Winter Games weekend.”
He adds that the proceeds were split between three charities. “Local bartenders from around the area, they all participate. Whoever has the best mixed drink and gets the most tips, they win the title of being Bartender of the Year. This year’s winners were Drakes at the Lakes, Puff’s and then Outback Lounge in 3rd. We were so happy to give money to Exceptional Warriors, Adley’s Army and The Harmelink Family.”
He notes that other events raised money, as well. “All our games that we put on, The Human Dogsled, The Keg Toss, all the entry monies for those games, they all go back to charity with our donation. Our great sponsor, Dolls Distributing, matches those donation. Also, Exit Realty matched this year. So, it’s all about giving back during Winter Games. Everyone comes and has fun, but don’t forget to give back to those charities and things that need it the most.”
