(Spirit Lake)– Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Dickinson County, will host a Parkinson’s Disease Conference October 27th at the Maser Monarch Lodge on the campus of the Dickinson County Nature Center. Sue Boettcher of ISU Extension and Outreach says it will be going on that day from 12:30 until 5:00 pm and will feature several keynote speakers…
“Susan Callison is with the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association; we have three research students that are working with Dr. Stegamoller at Iowa State which they are doing research on Parkinson’s, they’re going to be speaking; Dr. Joe Verschoor who is a local physical therapist, and he works with Parkinson’s patients; Victoria and Bob Miller, Bob Miller used to be the Superintendent at the Okoboji schools, Victoria does have Parkinsons, so they are going to talk about the day in the life of Parkinson’s; and then we have Dr. Ridder out of Sioux Falls, the Avera Medical Group, he’s in neurology and he’s a movement specialist. So some great speakers lined up for the day.”
Pre-registration is required by contacting ISU Extension and Outreach, Dickinson County, at 336-3488. Boettcher says it’s free of charge…
“We do have some sponsors. We have Doug Wagner with Edward Jones, Fareway and Hy-Vee both of Spirit Lake, the Human Sciences Department out of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and then the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association is funding this so that it is free to all participants.”
Boettcher says there will also be an online Parkinson’s seminar October 20th that will be available for viewing at their office in Spirit Lake, starting at 9:00 that morning.
