(Emmetsburg)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday near West Bend sent two people to the hospital.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of 535th Avenue and 475th Street.
Authorities say 53-year-old Duane Brown of West Bend was southbound on 535th Avenue when he allegedly ran a stop sign, colliding with a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Ashley Johnson of Carroll who was eastbound on 475th Street. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch.
Brown and Johnson were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. There was no word on the extent of their injuries or conditions.
A 1986 Ford driven by Brown and a 2002 Ford driven by Johnson were both totaled.
Brown was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the West Bend ambulance and Fire Department, Emmetsburg ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
