Palo Alto County Crash Claims A Life

November 25, 2025

(Emmetsburg)– A pedestrian was killed and two others sent to hospitals following a three-vehicle crash Friday in Palo Alto county. The Iowa State Patrol says it happened around 5:20 pm at an intersection between Emmetsburg and Mallard.

A crash report indicates 19-year-old Austin Stokes of Mallard was driving a Dodge Ram eastbound when he collided with a parked vehicle. The pickup driven by Stokes left the road and rolled. Stokes was taken to a hospital by private vehicle for complaint of pain or possible injury.

The other two vehicles, a car and a minivan, were parked along the road and were totaled. A person who was in the car, identified as 64-year-old Carol Harding, was seriously injured and was taken by helicopter to a Rochester hospital.

Authorities say a woman who was standing on the shoulder of the road died after being transported to Palo Alto County Hospital. She’s identified as 35-year-old Jamee Weber of West Bend. The report doesn’t say how she was injured.
