Palo Alto County Collision Results In Multiple Injuries

(Emmetsburg)– A two-vehicle collision Friday at the intersection of 460th Avenue and Palo Alto County Road B57 sent several people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 83-year-old Lee McQuown of Curlew was eastbound on County Road B57 and had stopped for a stop sign. Authorities say he pulled out from the stop sign into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by 23-year-old Mark Knuths of Pocahontas.

McQuown, Knuths and two passengers in Knuths’ vehicle, 22-year-old Ricky Burnett and 22-year-old Rachelle Henderson both of Havelock, were taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Information on the extent of thier injuries and conditions wasn’t immediately available.

Damage estimates to the vehicles also weren’t immediately available.

The collision took place shortly before 11:30 a.m.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Mallard Fire and Rescue.
