(Emmetsburg)—The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance as it investigates a couple of thefts of gravity wagons.
Deputies say the two wagons were reported stolen from a farm site in western Fern Valley Township of Palo Alto county. Taken was a 725 bushel Parker gravity wagon, light green in color. The other wagon was a 640 bushel Brent gravity wagon, red in color. Both wagons had a front-mounted ladder, rear tail lights and were equipped with brakes.
Authorities say both wagons were 10 years old. They believe the thefts took place over the past two and a half weeks or so. They’re valued at $20,000.
Authorities remind area farmers to secure their equipment as best they can, especially during the upcoming harvest season.
