(Ruthven)– A single-vehicle crash shortly after 9:00 a.m. Saturday on a Palo Alto county road near Ruthven sent two people to the hospital.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Lori Kunzman of Spencer was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S10 pickup westbound when she encountered some ice, causing her to lose control. The vehicle slid into the eastbound lane and went into the south ditch where it rolled once, coming to rest on its wheels.
Kunzman and a 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle had to be extricated by mechanical means by the Ruthven Fire Department. They were both taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
The truck was a total loss.
