(Sibley)—A two-vehicle collision Saturday evening on Highway 9 in Osceola county sent one person to the hospital.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Rachel Trucke of Mapleton, Iowa was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile westbound and 57-year-old Douglas Claus of Ocheyedan was driving a 2000 Dodge eastbound. Authorities say Clause crossed the center line and collided with the vehicle Trucke was driving.
Claus sustained possible injuries and was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital. Trucke sustained possible injuries but wasn’t taken to the hospital.
Claus was cited for failure to yield to half of the roadway when meeting a vehicle.
$8,000 in damage was estimated to the Oldsmobile driven by Trucke; damage to the Dodge driven by Claus was put at roughly $7,000.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Ocheyedan Fire and Rescue, the Ocheyedan ambulance and the Sibley ambulance.
The collision took place around 10:20 p.m.
