(Ocheyedan)– A collision involving a pickup and a semi that occurred shortly before 10:00 this (Fri.) morning at the intersection of Highways 9 and 59 in Osceola county claimed the life of an Arnolds Park man.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Kevin Lankford of Macomb, Illinois was driving a 2010 International semi northbound on Highway 59 when he failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled into the path of a 2008 Ford F350 pickup driven by 33-year-old Scott Baumgard of Arnolds Park.
Baumgard was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported to Lankford.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation, the Iowa State Patrol, the Ocheyedan and Sibley Fire Departments and the Sibley ambulance.
Authorities say the collision remains under investigation.
