Osceola County Collision Sends Three To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday on Highway 60 near the Iowa/Minnesota border sent three people to the hospital with possible injuries.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Whitney Lucas of Sioux Falls was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius southbound and was approaching the intersection with 100th Street. Authorities say 37-year-old Hussein Warfa of South Sioux City, Nebraska was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala westbound and pulled out in front of Lucas, causing the two to collide.

Lucas and a passenger, 23-year-old Tatyana Fox of McKees Rock, Pennsylvania, sustained possible injuries and were taken to Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Warfa was also transported to the Osceola Community Hospital with what was termed as possible injuries.

$5,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Warfa, who was cited for failure to yield. About $10,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle Lucas was driving.

The collision took place around 8:00 a.m.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Sibley Ambulance.
