Orleans Officials Remind Residents It Is Illegal To Shoot Off Fireworks In That Community

July 01, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Orleans)– Orleans officials are reminding residents it is illegal to shoot off fireworks in that city.

Mayor Bill Maas tells KUOO Orleans has adopted an ordinance similar to what Spirit Lake has on the books, as they contract with that city for law enforcement protection. That means anyone caught shooting off fireworks is subject to a misdemeanor. Violations on private property are subject to a minimum fine of $250; the minimum fine on public property is $500. The potential maximum fine for misdemeanors is $855.
