(Orleans)– Residents of Orleans will find an additional item on the ballot when they head to the polls November 7th. The city council voted 4-1 Monday evening to include a referendum on whether or not a hotel-motel tax should be levied in Orleans. The 7 percent tax would go into effect July 1st, 2024, if its approved by voters. Mayor Bill Maas says the growing number of vacation rentals in the city is what brought the matter to the forefront…
Councilman Terry Wilts voted against the measure saying he wanted to see some revenue projections first.
