Only Minor Injuries Reported In Car Vs Train Collision

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Webb woman escaped with only minor injuries this (Thursday) morning when a car she was driving collided with a train in Spencer.

Spencer police say 26-year-old Natasha Bovee was northbound at a railroad crossing on 10th Avenue East when she collided with an eastbound Canadian Pacific train. Police say the train’s locomotive collided with the driver’s side front fender area, dragging the car some 128 feet down the tracks before the engineer could stop it.

Bovee complained of arm, shoulder and neck pain but declined immediate treatment.

No injuries were reported to two people on board the train–it’s engineer, Jerry Egemo, and it’s conductor, Thomas Habben.

Damage to a 2011 Honda CR-V Bovee was driving was estimated at $10,500; little or no damage was reported to the train.

Bovee was cited for failure to properly stop at a railroad crossing.

The collision took place around 6:30 a.m. this (Thursday) morning.
