Online Registration Now Underway For Walleye Weekend

February 03, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– Online registration is now underway for Walleye Weekend. Blain Andera, CEO of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says this will be the 43rd year for the event, meaning a $43,000 grand prize will be going to whoever catches one of 10 specially tagged walleye, provided, of course, that person is registered…

“They can just go to okobojichamber.com, they can click on the events tab, and all of our events are listed right there, and then just click right on the Walleye Weekend tab and you can register right there. We will have in person registrations available here very shortly as well. Those include Kabel’s Bait and Tackle in Spirit Lake, Fisherman’s Factory Outlet in Spirit Lake, Stan’s Bait and Tackle in Milford and also Oakhill Outdoors in Milford. Those registration forms are being printed here as we speak and will be available here in the next few weeks or so in the in person bait shops.”

Andera says there are no changes this year in the structure of the event…

“People can enter the regular contest, they can also enter the extended contest. The regular contest is $30.00; extended contest is an additional $20.00. That runs all the way through August 31st. So if folks don’t know they can enter the regular contest or the extended contest or both, so you don’t have to register for one to have to register for the other.”

He adds that prizes will once again be awarded in several different categories…

“Of course the heaviest stringer of three walleye; heaviest northern pike; heaviest stringer of five panfish; and the heaviest stringer of 10 bullheads. Then we always have the Charlie Schuck Memorial heaviest stringer of walleye award that we give out as well. Fisherman’s Factory Outlet always takes good care of us and we have over $3,500 in prizes that we’ll give away at the awards ceremony on that Sunday of May 4th at the Dickinson County Expo Building.”

The Biggest Walleye Tournament will once again be held in conjunction with Walleye Weekend as well, which begins at 12:01 am Saturday, May 3rd and concludes at noon on Sunday, May 4th.
