Ongoing Meth Investigation Lands Man In Jail

(Spencer)– Drug charges have been filed against a Whittemore man as the result of an ongoing investigation into a methamphetamine manufacturing operation.

Authorities say 33-year-old Matthew McCauley was arrested on Wednesday (May 2nd) at DeWolf Park east of Spencer. McCauley was charged with delivery of a controlled substance…a class “C” felony; and possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine…a class “D” felony.

Following the arrest, deputies seized multiple items and substances consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine from McCauley’s vehicle.

McCauley was booked into the Clay county jail on a $100,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation and additional arrests are expected. Officials are offering a cash reward for any additional information that results in the arrest(s) of any additional suspect(s).

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in its investigation by the Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Estherville Police Department and the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.
