Woman Found Deceased In House Fire In Milford

July 13, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– A woman has been found deceased in a house fire this (Thurs.) morning in Milford. The name of the victim hasn’t been released. Fire Chief Jim Carpenter tells KUOO news heavy smoke could be seen coming from the residence at 1007 L Avenue…

“Actually one of our firemen spotted the smoke from his house and we got tripped about 7:23 to a structure fire on L Avenue in Milford. When I drove by it on my way to the station there was definitely heavy smoke coming out, doors were sooted, and went and grabbed the guys and came and got a good hit on it. The Fire Marshal’s coming right now from Mason City because they’re on their third fire today, and see what we can find.”

He says the home, which is listed for sale, sustained quite a bit of damage…

“It’s mainly contained to the first floor. A lot of smoke and heat down here. But that’s about it for right now.”

The Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department assisted on the scene along with Milford Police and Dickinson County Emergency Management.
