(Sibley)– The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says an on-line tip resulted in them nabbing a Sibley man for identity theft and three others on charges of tampering with records and forgery.
Deputies say they received information through their “Text-A-Tip” program last Friday that stated 21-year-old Jose Andres Gomez Velasco of Sibley was working under a false name at D & H Poultry in Sibley. Upon investigating the tip, deputies discovered Gomez Velasco provided a social security number that didn’t belong to him to secure employment at the company. He was arrested and charged with identity theft…a class “D” felony. Gomez Velasco is being held in the Osceola county jail on a five thousand dollar cash bond.
In addition, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have placed a detainer on Gomez Velasco.
While arresting Gomez Velasco at his residence, deputies discovered what’s alleged to be fraudulent documents. That resulted in the arrests of 20-year-old Fidel Velasco Cruz, 41-year-old Carlos Gomez Jimenez and 19-year-old Guillermo Gomez Velasco…all of Sibley. Cruz was charged with tampering with records…an aggravated misdemeanor. He’s in the Osceola county jail on a two thousand dollar bond. Jimenez and Velasco were both charged with forgery…class “D” felonies. They’re being held in the Osceola county jail on a bond of five thousand dollars each. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have placed detainers on all three men.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office thanks the anonymous tipster and encourages the public to utilize the “Text-A-Tip” program.
