Okoboji Superintendent To Step Down At End Of School Year

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Okoboji Superintendent Bob Miller is calling it quits at the end of the current school year.

Meeting in special session this (Friday) morning, the school board voted to accept Miller’s resignation.

Miller, who served as the district’s Superintendent seven years, tells KUOO news he plans to take advantage of the district’s early retirement policy.

Miller sited several accomplishments during his tenure, including the district’s low property tax rate and it’s overall financial position. He’s also proud of the district’s turnaround in open enrollment (going from a negative to a positive), and its alternative high school. He also praised the district’s teaching staff and administrators over the years and the high quality of education the Okoboji School District offers.

Miller added he isn’t sure what his future plans will be, saying he’s leaving the options open for now.

He went on to thank the parents and students and everyone else for their support during his tenure. Miller added the future for the Okoboji School District is a very exciting and bright one.

School Board President Chris Stein tells KUOO news they’ll begin the process of looking for a replacement for Miller at their meeting this coming Monday (Jan. 10th).
