(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Summer Job Fair is coming up Friday, April 14th at the Roof Garden at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. The event is put on each year by Okoboji High School. Principal Brian Downing says this marks the 7th year for it…
“It started out maybe 20, 25 businesses a few years ago and we’re up pushing 50 and sometimes more, and we are absolutely still accepting businesses that would like to be a part of it. They’ll get a chance to talk with and interact with probably more than 300 students during that morning from Okoboji. We also have students coming from Lake Park, Graettinger-Terril, and maybe even some kids from Spencer that are all looking for summer work so we encourage businesses to get signed up and join us.”
Downing says the Summer Job Fair is a win-win for businesses, students, and the community…
“Our businesses need kids. We always talk to our kids about what a unique area we have with increased need. We also have businesses, you know, like Wal-Mart and employers that are always looking for good worker year around and so we get a great turnout, we’ve got kids that are excited to be there, and we make some absolutely outstanding connections between businesses and students.”
Downing adds there’s no charge to businesses who would like to participate…
“It is absolutely free. We have our gracious host, Arnolds Park and Roof Garden, that beautiful space. We have lots of room. So all they need to do to get signed up, I have been sending emails out but if they go to the Okoboji High School Facebook page we’ll have a link right at the top there where they can get signed up. It’s going to be running between 8:00 and about Noon next Friday, the 14th and there is no cost to get involved.”
