(Milford)– The Okoboji School District is looking for a new head football coach and one assistant.
Meeting in special session, the school board Monday evening voted four-to-one to accept the resignations of head Football Coach Travis Schipper and Hank Grant, an assistant coach.
Board member Mark Hale cast the lone dissenting vote.
Prior to a motion being made to accept the resignations, School Board President Chris Stein reported that neither man had requested a closed session with the board.
The resignations sparked controversy at the board’s meeting last week from those who feel the coaches were being forced out. The resignations come at a time when the program is suffering from low numbers. There was no public comment at Monday evening’s meeting.
Following the vote, the board immediately went into closed session for the annual evaluation of the Superintendent.
