(Milford)– Meeting in special session Wednesday, the Okoboji school board reviewed a long range facilities plan as presented by architects with the Bergland Cram firm.
Superintendent Bob Miller says the plan projects needs over the next 25 years. He says one of the more immediate needs it addresses is additional space at the Elementary. Miller says there are 93 kids in this year’s Kindergarten class. He says they’ve had to expand from three sections to four as a result. As a result, Miller says various closets and storage rooms have been converted into makeshift classrooms.
Miller says board members Wednesday gave some input and tweaked the long range plan, which is now going back to the architects for finalization. After that, Miller says they’ll be able to identify additional options and attach estimated costs to them.
While the need for additional space at the elementary is immediate, Miller says the board wants to make sure due diligence is done.
