(Milford)– The search for a new Superintendent for the Okoboji Community School District is kicking into high gear. As we reported previously, the school board has contracted with Grundmeyer Leader Services to head up the search. School Board President Juli Johnson says they have also established a timeline for getting a new Superintendent hired…
“Applications for the superintendent position will be available October 2nd through November 29th through Grundmeyer Leader Services. The board is scheduled to review applications on December 4th, hold semi-finalist interviews on December 11th with formal interviews taking place in person on December 16th where the finalists bring their families, tour the area and also tour the school district buildings in addition to the formal interview process for the candidates. And it’s our hope to have a new superintendent selected before Christmas break.”
In the meantime, Johnson says they want to hear from district patrons as to what qualities they would like to see in a new Superintendent…
“Our board feels it’s incredibly important to get feedback from the stakeholders of our district to give their input so we can ensure the new superintendent we hire is not only a good fit for the school district, but also for the community. After the survey closes on August 31st, Grundmeyer will produce a general report based on the information gathered in the survey, and the report will be shared with the board to advise on what priorities the district and the community stakeholders are looking for in the next leader of our school district. The survey was emailed out to district parents and also shared on the district’s Facebook page, and the last update we received from Grundmeyer noted that just under 100 people have completed the survey, so we’re really hoping more stakeholders take the time to fill it out.”
Johnson says they’re also looking for volunteers to serve on an interview committee…
“If anyone is interested in serving on the interview committee, there is an email address at the end of the survey that they can email and submit their name to in order to be considered one of the formal interview teams on December 16th.”
Current Superintendent Todd Abrahamson will be retiring following the upcoming school year.
