()Milford)-A special holiday concert is on tap Saturday afternoon in Milford. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Okoboji Performing Arts, a new nonprofit in the area, will present Home for the Holidays on Saturday afternoon.
Organizer and accomplished Opera singer John Moore says, the group had to cancel a concert last Tuesday due to weather concerns. “We were meant to present Cantus, Internationally acclaimed men’s ensemble from the Minneapolis area this last Tuesday, but of course, Mother Nature had different plans.”
He adds that the group has pulled together some talented musicians for Saturday’s concert. “Jess Schabel and I, the co-creators of the group, decided, why don’t we just use our own talent, not unlike how we presented Home for the Holidays last year, in a Christmas concert for the people of the area and still be able to utilize everything we prepared for. Jessica has brought in 3 other wonderful musicians, a violinist, another vocalist and then, another pianist. We are going to present in the Sanctuary and then there will be a reception that follows.”
The Concert will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. A free will offering will be accepted.
Performers to include John Moore, Jessica Schable, Jennifer Johnson, Sara Taylor and Rachelle Gewecke.
