Okoboji Performing Arts will present their Home for the Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 17.
Jessica Schable says she’ll be joined by some talented friends. “I will be playing the piano and singing. Jennifer Johnson will be playing the piano and we will do a couple piano duets. Drew Duncan is going to come back, currently live in Lincoln, Nebraska and does a lot of singing there and in the Omaha area. John Moore from the area. We all graduated from Okoboji High School around the year 2000 and went to Simpson College to study music, so John’s been off singing in the Opera world. We have the addition of Brandon Hendrickson this year. He’s a Professor of Music at LSU, and he was a good friend of ours at Simpson College. Phenomenal Baritone. It’s gonna be such a fun concert.”
She adds that a free will donation will help support the group’s programs in 2024. “There’s no admission to get into this concert, this is just a free concert that we do every year, but we do take a free will offering that will go to support all of our 2024 programs. So, our Summer Academy programming that we do over the summer. WE are hoping to add in some new projects. I’m just in talks with thinking about doing a high school production type project, as well as just bringing other programs to the area, both educational and performing.”
The concert will start at 3 o’clock at The Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts in Spirit Lake.
