(Undated)– The Okoboji Middle School will receive $40,000 through the Iowa Governor’s STEM BEST + HD program which encourages teachers and industry professionals to work side by side to develop a work-based learning model incorporating STEM subjects.
The funds awarded to the Okoboji Middle School will be used for their “Curious Minds” program that will allow students to create programs that graphic designers, architects, game designers and engineers are using in their career fields. Students will be able to learn from mentors that are currently working with those technologies.
Okoboji is one of 37 Iowa School Districts selected for the STEM BEST High Demand Program.
Sioux Central was also awarded funding through the program for its Agricultural Education Department, which plans to build a state-of-the-art greenhouse.
