(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation will begin accepting applications for its 2013 grant cycle January 1st. Mary Freiborg, the foundation’s Executive Director, tells KUOO news they’ll be accepting applications from local non-profit groups through March 1st…(click here for comment.) “You know we typically really focus on things that have a lasting positive impact in our lakes communities. We look at buildings, facilities, amenities, equipment, things that are here for the long term to really make a difference.”
Freiborg says you don’t have to look very far in the lakes area before you see a project the foundation has helped finance since it was founded back in 1988…(click here for comment.) “You know our donors and the foundation itself, everyone involved with it, should just be so proud of what’s happened in the last 25 years. Over 2.3 million dollars has gone back to the community through vital non-profit projects, facilities and amenities that as you drive around you would just be amazed at the partnerships that we have formed and all of that information is available on our website. We have a history of our grant projects if someone is interested in seeing all the things we’ve funded they can just go to that website and take a look at that impact.”
The foundation has up to $100,000 to award in the upcoming grant cycle…(click here for comment.) “We look at the project requests that have come in and then we have a grants committee that reads and scores all those and brings those forward to our donors to consider what they would like to fund, what the most urgent need is for that year.”
