(Okoboji)– The city of Okoboji is putting the finishing touches on its proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The council reviewed the numbers at a meeting earlier this week.
City Administrator Dennis Daly tells KUOO news the city will be asking for slightly more than 500-thousand dollars from taxpayers. Slightly more than 500-thousand is also being sought for the city’s debt service levy to cover the cost of some projects. Daly says that will put the city’s tax asking at a little more than $3.79 per one thousand dollars of valuation…about 23 cents per thousand dollars less than the current levy.
Daly says two factors resulted in the lower levy: the city released some value from its TIF district to the General Fund; and there was an increase of slightly more than 10 million dollars in valuation in the city.
A public hearing on the proposed budget is set for March 10th.
