August 08, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Arnolds Park)-The Okoboji Blue Water Festival will feature a full schedule of events on Saturday including Chalkstock, Exhibitors Row, Fishing Seminar and Kids and Family Activities.

Co-Chairs Greg Drees and Julie Peterson say, several speakers will be featured this year. “We have speakers and the first one is at 11:15 and it’s Mike Hawkins. He’s a Fisheries Biologist with The Department of Natural Resources of Iowa, and then our Keynote Speaker at one o’clock, we have two speakers that are going to share the Keynote this year under the Big Tent, Chris Jones, a retired Hydrologist, Scientist from The University of Iowa, a clean water advocate, and Art Cullen from The Storm Lake Times, Pulitzer Prize Winning Writer and also a water quality advocate. This should draw a large crowd. We’re very excited about these speakers.”

Drees adds that the event culminates with a big concert. The Nadas, a regional group, everyone will be familiar with The Nadas. They take the stage at 7:15 this year, and then, the headliner, X Ambassadors. I tell you what, people are really getting excited about this band. Every tour that they do recently is getting rave reviews. They’re a very up and coming national act. They’ll take the stage at 8:45 followed by fireworks. There you go, an exciting lineup.”

The festival is free to attend.
