(Spirit Lake)-A mattress fundraiser will benefit local school music programs this coming weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Okoboji and Spirit Lake School Music Departments will host the 2nd Annual Mattress Fundraiser this weekend.
Okoboji High School Band Director James Kunz explains. “We’ve worked with this company, Custom Fundraising Solutions, who sell mattresses. So, what we know is that 1 in 10 homes in our community will buy at mattress this year and so it’s just a matter of finding out who it is and then asking for their support to buy a mattress through us to help give money back to our programs.”
He adds that the sales will occur Saturday and Sunday. “If you are interested in buying a mattress through this fundraiser, what you’ll do is come out either to Spirit Lake on Saturday or over to Okoboji on Sunday. If you want to support Spirit Lake you can still come to Okoboji on Sunday and vice versa, all you need to do is tell them who you are supporting at the check out. You’ll walk in, they’ll have about 30 display beds set up that you can sit on and try out, and so it’s basically our school turns into a showroom floor.”
Proceeds from the event will help raise funds for the Choir Program at Spirit Lake High School and will help fund new Marching Band Uniforms at Okoboji High School.
HOURS:
Spirit Lake High School: Saturday, December 2, from 10 am – 5 pm.
Okoboji High School: Sunday, December 3, from 11 am – 5 pm.
