Okoboji 1st Graders Participate In Teddy Bear Clinic/Hospital Tour

February 07, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– First-grade students from the Okoboji Community School District recently participated in a Teddy Bear Clinic and tour at Spencer Hospital. They were welcomed by a giant teddy bear and toured various interactive stations throughout the hospital. They also visited a medical-surgical inpatient room, the pre-op and recovery areas in same-day surgery, the rehabilitative services therapy pool, the patient draw room in the laboratory and an x-ray room in the diagnostic imaging department. There was also a hands-on Teddy Bear Clinic with a healthcare provider.

Spencer Hospital President Brenda Tiefenthaler says the event gives young students an opportunity to visit the hospital in a fun way and to help make it a less scary experience when they or a loved one is sick or experiencing an emergency.
