(Milford)– More honors for the Okoboji Middle and High School jazz bands who competed Tuesday at the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters’ District Jazz Festival in Sioux City.
The Okoboji Middle School jazz band placed first in the Middle School class 1A/2A. Sioux Center was second, Sheldon 3rd, Maple Valley-Anthon-Otto 4th and Sioux Center Christian was 5th.
The Okoboji High School jazz band won first place in class 2A, followed by South O’Brien, Central Lyon, Cherokee and Sibley-Ocheyedan.
Okoboji’s first place finish at the district contest means they have qualified for the Iowa Jazz Championships to be held in Des Moines Tuesday, April 14th.
The Okoboji High and Middle School jazz bands will hold their annual “Evening of Jazz Concert” Friday, March 6th at the Okoboji High School Auditorium in Milford.
