Officials With Okoboji Community Schools Urging Extra Vigilance Following Incident Wednesday

April 04, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– Officials with the Okoboji Community School District are requesting increased vigilance among the general public following an incident Wednesday afternoon.

In an email to district patrons, Superintendent Todd Abrahamson says they were made aware of a black 4-door Dodge pickup, believed to be a 2010 model or newer, that approached a citizen asking if they needed a ride or wanted to get in his vehicle. The driver of the pickup was described as a white male in his 50’s or 60’s with bushy grey hair.

The email goes on to say that school officials take such incidents very seriously. Abrahamson says it’s important to talk with your children about personal safety. He says building principals and staff discussed the matter with students prior to classes being dismissed Wednesday.
