Officials With Lewis & Clark Regional Water System Commemorate Special Milestone

July 26, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Sibley)– Normally the term “golden spike” refers to the completion of a project, but for the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System, it marks the final section of pipe for the 310 miles of transmission pipeline for their base system.

The final section of 12-inch diameter pipe is covered in a gold wrap with the Lewis & Clark and Bureau of Reclamation logos. Attendees signed the pipe before it went into the ground this (Fri.) morning. There was no formal ceremony but a handful of officials shared some brief remarks.

A separate ribbon-cutting celebration will be planned later for Sibley’s connection to the system in October.

Completion of the base system will not be completed until 2028 when the third and final phase of the treatment plant is expected to be finished, according to Lewis & Clark officials.
