(Des Moines)– Officials say we need to be wary of a new type of scam that’s making the rounds. The Iowa Credit Union League says it’s called “smishing”. They say scammers are sending texts claiming to be from a financial institution in an attempt to obtain account numbers and other personal information.
League officials say financial institutions will never ask for you social security number, full account numbers or other personal information via phone, text or email.
