Officials Say It’s A Wonder There Were No Injuries In A Weekend Collision In Clay County

(Spencer)– Officials say it’s a wonder there were no injuries in a two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of two Clay county roads.

Sheriff’s deputies say 54-year-old Debra Mouw of Spencer westbound on County Road B-24 and had stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with 240th Avenue when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Michele Logue of Salina, Kansas. The impact of the collision pushed the vehicle Mouw was driving into the oncoming lane of traffic.

No injuries were reported, even though a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am Logue was driving was totaled. Minor damage was reported to a 2003 Chevrolet Astro van Mouw was driving that’s owned by the Janitor’s Closet.

Logue was cited for failing to stop in a safe distance.

The collision took place around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department and Dickens Fire and Rescue.
