October Unemployment In Iowa Sees Slight Uptick

“It ticked up to three percent in October, so it was up a tenth of a point.”

She says now that the election is over, she’s hoping to see employers start hiring again…

“I think employers had been on the sidelines because they didn’t know what the fiscal policy would look like moving forward, so now they have a better idea of what the focus of the administration is going to be.”

Townsend says manufacturing jobs saw some losses in Iowa after layoffs at large companies. Retail and hospitality jobs saw some gains.
